First Student Chosen for Chancellor for a Day Program
Yasmine Aljuwani, a junior elementary education major from Charlotte, N.C., has been selected as the first student to participate in Fayetteville State University (FSU) Chancellor James Anderson's "Chancellor for a Day" program. Aljuwani was chosen from a pool of FSU students who filled out an application and wrote an essay expressing their desire to experience hands-on what Chancellor Anderson does during his workday as the FSU's chief executive officer. Aljuwani's workday with Chancellor Anderson will begin December 4, starting at 8:30 a.m.

The program is designed to enable students to gain a better understanding of the day-to-day operations of the University by shadowing the Chancellor for one day. They will participate in all of the activities and meetings scheduled for the Chancellor. The main goals of the program are to: 1) give students an opportunity to be a part of the administrative process; 2) emphasize the role of the student in the university; 3) give students experience in the decision making process; and 4) enable students to gain some understanding of the leadership skills required for managing a multifaceted organization and the synergy required for operating as a whole.

Members of the media are invited to cover this event. For more information, please call (910) 672-1474.
