INTRODUCTION TO ADDING EVENTS BY GUEST USERS

 
Adding New Events

Add Event buttonTo add an event, click the "Add Event" button.
Events entered into the “Submit Event” screen must first be approved by by the calendar administrator before they become visible to other users with only “read” access.

Add New Event:  Add an event screen
  1. Select a Calendar:
    (NOTE: whichever calendar that you selected when you first went to the site will be the default calendar).
  2. Date: Choose a date from the pull-down menus. (By default, the active date will be highlighted in the menus. The active date is either the  date you clicked on to access the “Add New Event” screen or today’s date if you clicked the “Add Event” button.)
  3. Start Time: The Start Time is the day of the event, or the first day of an event that spans over several days/weeks. Do not use this field as a date to remind of an event. The individual users have the ability to subscribe to any calendar(s), and set a reminder time if so desired.
  4. End Time: Choose an end time, if appropriate.
  5. Repeat: Choose how often you want the event to be repeated. You can select the number of times to repeat or the date you would like  the event to repeat until. (NOTE: the default setting is the initial date you select for the event.) If you check the "Repeat Until" radio button, you are required to select a Repeat method in the Repeat dropdown menu.
  6. Event Title: Enter a short and descriptive title.
  7. Category: Designate a category for this event to be filtered.

 

 

  1. Description: Enter a description of the event (or other details including location, cost, contact phone numbers, attendees, etc.). If the option is available, designate how the description should be displayed. “Pre-formatted” text will appear onscreen as entered (including hard returns and extra spaces, for example). “Wrapped” text will not retain any formatting, but will automatically wrap to fit your browser or JavaScript window.
  2. URL to document/website: Enter the complete URL to either a website, or a document that has been uploaded to the web server (for additional information).
    Example of URL to a website: http://www.uncfsu.edu
    Example of URL to a document: http://www.uncfsu.edu/BULLETIN/exam.pdf
    If you have a flyer or document, but do not have a website, send it as an e-mail attachment to either Bill Gibson or Suzanne Hesseltine for upload to the web server. Make sure to avoid spaces in the file name. For example, instead of naming the file: spring event 2004.pdf, name it: springEvent2004.pdf
  3. Location: Enter site, building and/or room location.
  4. Your Name: Enter your full name
  5. Your Email: Enter your Fayetteville State University e-mail address.
